Idaho blaze conjures dramatic fire devils [photos]

Mother Nature Network defines a fire whirl or fire devil as “a rare phenomenon in which fire forms a tornado-like vortex of flames.” They might be rare, but the fire whirls spotted recently near the Summit Fire in Utah have popped up again in Idaho as part of the #BeaverCreekFire near Sun Valley.

An update at 7 p.m. Eastern places the wildfire at around 64,000 acres.
